Save the date for the 2026 JFJ Refresher Course: June 12 - 13, 2026
This society is a professional organization formed to promulgate the high ideals of Dr. John F. Johnston in learning, teaching, and practicing in the field of fixed and removable prosthodontics. Dr. Johnston was a very kind man and had an innate ability to lead in his field of dentistry. With his vision, he established the training program that attracted dentists globally. It was an honor to be accepted into his program. Many of the alums continued in his path and became leaders at their institution as program chairs, deans, and presidents of organized dentistry. The IUSD program has made a profound impact in dentistry locally and globally.
Dr. Johnston dedicated his life to prosthodontic education. His very generous donation has established the John F. Johnston Scholarship awards that are presented to the prosthodontic residents at IUSD.
This course will cover a multitude of topics including all specialties of dentistry and their integration in prosthodontics.

This course offers a multidisciplinary, clinically focused update on how dental specialties integrate with prosthodontic care. Over two days, experts will cover implant design and complication management, complete-arch and complex restorative strategies, maxillofacial and oncology rehabilitation, and modern digital workflows including CBCT-based planning, virtual articulation, and emerging AI applications.

SPEAKER BIOS
Dr. Charles Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University and completed a combined program in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at Indiana University. He served as Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University and as Dean of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American College of Prosthodontists, and Past President of the Academy of Prosthodontics. He was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR) and Chaired the FOR Education Council for 10 years. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor and teaches in the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University and has practiced prosthodontics and implant dentistry for over 50 years.
Dr. Sarah Kay Youny Lee is a maxillofacial prosthodontist who is board-certified in prosthodontics at the Mayo Clinic in the Division of Prosthetic Dentistry and Esthetics in the Department of Dental Specialties. She also serves as department’s vice chair of education and was previously the associate program director of the maxillofacial prosthetics and dental oncology fellowship and program director of the advanced prosthodontics residency. Outside of Mayo Clinic, she served as the social media editor for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Vinicius Dutra is a Clinical Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Radiology from the Federal University of São Paulo and an MBA from PUC University in Brazil. With over 25 years of experience in image interpretation, business development, and the implementation of digital technologies, Dr. Dutra specializes in integrating CBCT, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence into dental education and clinical innovation. A recognized international speaker, he brings a practical and forward-looking perspective to radiology and digital dentistry.
Dr. Damian Lee is currently a tenured Associate Professor and Chair of Department of Prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He received his dental degree from the University of Michigan and completed his prosthodontic training at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Lee has been part of dental education since 2007 and has taught in all levels in both predoctoral and postgraduate education. Prior to joining Tufts University, Dr. Lee worked as the Program Director for the Advanced Prosthodontics Program at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry for 10+ years. Dr. Lee has conducted many research projects in various aspects of prosthodontics and has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed prosthodontic journals in the areas of dental implants, CAD/CAM digital dentistry, dental lasers, and retrospective outcome studies.
Dr. Wenchou (James) Wu is a board-certified maxillofacial prosthodontist. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Wu graduated from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan in 2000. He received his master’s degree in biomedical sciences and completed his certificates in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2006. Dr. Wu served for several years as the Program Director for both the Advanced Education in Prosthodontics Program and the Advanced Education in Maxillofacial Prosthetics Program at UAB before relocating to New York. He is currently the Program Director of the Advanced Education in Prosthodontics Program at Columbia University.
Dr. Kazu Tsuchiya received his DDS degree from Fukuoka Dental College in 2002 and began his clinical career at Tsuchiya Dental Clinic in Oita, Japan. In 2005, he entered the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he completed his Master of Science degree in 2008. During his training, he received the J.F.J. Scholarship Award and later became a board-certified prosthodontist of the American Board of Prosthodontics. After returning to Japan, Dr. Tsuchiya resumed practice at Tsuchiya Dental Clinic and was appointed Clinical Professor at Fukuoka Dental College in 2011. He established the Oita office of Tsuchiya Dental Clinic in 2015 and became an ITI Fellow in 2023.
Dr. Graciela Shimizu Oliva earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from San Martin de Porres University in Peru and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Indiana University, where she also completed her prosthodontics residency. She was awarded the John F. Johnston Society Scholarship and served as Chief Resident at IUPUI from 2009-2010. Since joining ClearChoice in 2016, Dr. Shimizu has become an expert in full arch treatment, including All-on-4, zygomatic, and pterygoid implants, with over 8,000 cosmetic cases designed. Fluent in English and Spanish, she’s passionate about transforming lives and creating beautiful smiles at ClearChoice in San Jose.
Dr. Dean Morton completed his dental training at the University of Sydney (Aust.) and his MS and Postgraduate Certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa. He currently serves as the Indiana Dental Association (IDA) Endowed Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry and as the Director of the Center for Implant, Esthetic and Innovative Dentistry. Dr. Morton is an Honorary Fellow of the ITI and is a Visiting Professor, Queen Mary University, London, UK. He is a diplomate, examiner and past-president of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is a member of the Board of Councilors of the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP).
Dr. Flavio de Alcantara Camejo is Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Co-Director of the Predoctoral Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program, Indiana University School of Dentistry. He is a Fellow of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery training in Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in Evangelic University Hospital of Curitiba. He has a MS and PhD in Health Sciences fro Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Parana.
Dr. Gerry Cleary graduated in Trinity College Dublin (82), completed his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at Edinburgh (87) and the Master’s Programme in Prosthodontics at Indiana University, receiving his Master’s Degree and Certificate of post-graduate studies (92). Since then he maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics and a lecturer (part-time, 3 sessions pw)) position at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, teaching graduate prosthodontics.
Dr. Pavinee Sung Chotiwannpor embarked on her dentistry journey in her native Thailand back in 2005, where she initially practiced General Dentistry. Seeking to deepen her expertise, she pursued advanced education in the United States, culminating in notable achievements. She obtained a certificate in Graduate Operative Dentistry and an MSc in Prosthodontic Dentistry from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Additionally, she honed her skills further by completing an Aesthetic and Implant Fellowship at Louisiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Pavinee is a board-certified prosthodontist, a distinction highlighting her expertise in dentistry.
Dr. Hawra AlQallaf received her DDS from Kuwait University, Periodontal certificate and a Master of Science in dentistry from IUSD in 2018 & Master of Business Administration- University of Southern Indiana in 2024. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a fellow of the International Team for Implantology. Dr. AlQallaf currently teaches clinical and didactic courses for both graduate and pre-doctoral students.
Dr. Toshiki Nagai, DDS, MSD, FACP, FRCD(C), Diplomate of AO, is a board-certified prosthodontist and Clinical Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Dentistry. His work focuses on digital implant workflows, complete-arch rehabilitation, and 3D-printed prostheses. He has published widely in leading prosthodontic journals and lectures internationally on digital dentistry and advanced implant prosthodontics.
Dr. Michael Drone has two post-graduate dental specialty degrees, prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics, from Indiana University School of Dentistry and Medicine. As a prosthodontist, Michael Drone, DDS practices a full scope of prosthodontic procedures with expertise ranging from dental implants, cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry and dentures, to restorative dentistry. Since 2007, Michael Drone, DDS has been actively involved in providing his knowledge and expertise to The Northwest Indiana Dental Study Clubs, dentists, dental specialists and physicians.
Dr. Mohamed Sherif Omar, BDS, MSc, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Digital Innovation Lab at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He earned his Certificate and Master’s degree in Prosthodontics from Cairo University. His work spans prosthodontics, digital dentistry, and artificial intelligence, with research focused on AI-generated dynamic jaw motion and the optimization of digital workflows. In his current role, he leads initiatives in clinical digital technology integration, curriculum enhancement, and innovation in virtual articulation and prosthetic design.
